Supreme Court Challenges Central Government Over Ethanol Supply Logistics for E100 Vehicles

NEW DELHI — The Supreme Court of India on Thursday pressed the central government for detailed clarifications regarding the logistical feasibility of supplying sufficient fuel for vehicles operating entirely on ethanol, following recent regulatory approvals for E100 transport.
The judicial inquiry highlights a critical oversight challenge in the nation's ambitious green energy transition, specifically connecting high-level policy approvals with the ground-level realities of fuel manufacturing, storage, and nationwide distribution networks.
According to reports by the Nagaland Post, the apex court's line of questioning emerged directly in response to a policy framework enacted by the Road Transport Ministry on October 26, which formally greenlit the utilization of vehicles running exclusively on pure ethanol.
As the administration prepares to defend its alternative fuel timeline, legal experts and industry analysts anticipate further judicial directives aimed at aligning ministerial green targets with actionable infrastructure development in the coming weeks.
