Dimapur and Chümoukedima Business Bodies Defy NSCN/FRGN Sunday Closure Mandate

A coalition of prominent trade associations and urban municipal bodies in Dimapur and Chümoukedima officially rejected a directive issued by the NSCN/FRGN, which mandated the complete shuttering of all commercial enterprises on Sundays.
The friction arises from longstanding complexities surrounding regulatory enforcement and taxation in the region, where armed factions and underground groups frequently attempt to impose local administrative rules on civilian populations and commercial sectors.
According to reports by the Nagaland Post, local business leaders and community representatives expressed deep frustration over the unilateral decree, arguing that forced closures severely disrupt daily commerce, consumer convenience, and the financial stability of merchants already navigating challenging economic conditions.
As civil resistance solidifies, trade unions plan to hold further consultations with local stakeholders to draft a unified strategy, setting the stage for a prolonged standoff over regional governance and commercial autonomy.
