Nisshi FC Clinches 7-a-side Futsal Championship in Peren District, 2026

Nisshi FC emerged as champions of the 7-a-side Futsal Tournament 2026, organised by the Peren District Congress Committee (PDCC) at The Ball Park in Jalukie Town, Peren, on October 23 and 24. The final match concluded a two-day competition that brought together regional teams in a showcase of grassroots football talent.
The PDCC's initiative reflects a broader push by political and social organisations in Nagaland to promote sports as a vehicle for youth engagement and community building. The futsal tourney was organised under the theme announced by the committee, emphasizing empowerment and local talent. Futsal, with its fast-paced, indoor format, has gained traction across the northeast as an accessible platform for athletic development. The tournament aligns with ongoing efforts to institutionalise district-level sporting events beyond the traditional political calendar.
"The victory is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the boys," said a spokesperson for Nisshi FC following the final whistle, as reported by Nagaland Post. A PDCC official added that such tournaments are vital for fostering healthy competition and unity across Peren's villages, noting that the committee plans to make the futsal event an annual fixture. Local fans praised the organisation and the high standard of play, with several calling for increased investment in regional sports infrastructure.
Organisers have indicated interest in expanding the tournament's scope for next year's edition, potentially inviting teams from adjacent districts and integrating youth development workshops. Sports analysts suggest that sustained investment in grassroots futsal could feed into larger state and national pipelines, positioning Nagaland as an emerging hub for the sport in India's northeast. The PDCC's success may also inspire similar committees across the region to leverage sport for civic engagement.
