ICAR KVK Dimapur Initiates Khet Bachao Abhiyan 2026 Rabi Campaign to Boost Soil Health

DIMAPUR — In a decisive push toward agricultural modernization, the ICAR Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) of Dimapur officially rolled out the Khet Bachao Abhiyan 2026 Rabi Campaign on October 22, choosing Chümoukedima Village as the launchpad for the intensive rural outreach.
This newly introduced campaign arrives at a critical juncture for local farming communities grappling with declining arable land quality and unpredictable weather patterns. According to agricultural specialists, decades of intensive cultivation without adequate soil regeneration have taken a heavy toll on regional crop yields, making targeted interventions urgent to secure long-term food security.
According to reports by the Nagaland Post, local agricultural authorities emphasized that safeguarding the topsoil and adopting regenerative practices are no longer optional but mandatory for survival. Organizers noted that the campaign directly addresses grassroots challenges by equipping farmers with modern, science-backed tools to restore nutrient-depleted acreage.
Looking ahead, KVK Dimapur plans to roll out a series of intensive field workshops, soil testing camps, and demonstration plots throughout the Rabi season. These upcoming phases aim to transition regional producers toward chemical-independent cultivation methods, ultimately fostering a resilient and economically viable agricultural ecosystem across the state.
