New Delhi Offers Battle-Tested Counter-Terrorism Tactics to ASEAN Nations

During the 13th ASEAN Defence Ministers' Meeting-Plus (ADMM-Plus) held in Cebu, Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh formally offered to extend New Delhi's operational counter-terrorism capabilities to Southeast Asian partner nations.
This strategic outreach underscores India's deepening commitment to Indo-Pacific security architecture, particularly in combating cross-border militant networks and maritime threats. Historically, India has maintained robust bilateral security dialogues with individual Southeast Asian countries, but this multilateral push seeks to unify regional responses against evolving extremist challenges.
According to reports by The Hindu, the defence chief detailed a comprehensive collaborative framework that encompasses specialized capacity-building initiatives, synchronized tactical drills, and robust information-sharing mechanisms. Furthermore, Singh pitched the establishment of a specialized defence 'Youth Bridge' to cultivate future military and diplomatic leadership across the participating nations.
Looking ahead, defence officials from both sides are expected to draft formal implementation roadmaps to integrate these intelligence and training frameworks into the annual ASEAN-India cooperative agenda. The strategic move is anticipated to solidify New Delhi's position as a preferred security partner in the region amid shifting geopolitical dynamics.
