PM Modi Praises ISRO as GSLV-F18 Successfully Deploys NVS-03 Navigation Satellite

Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the Indian Space Research Organisation following the triumphant liftoff of the GSLV-F18 rocket, which successfully placed the NVS-03 navigation satellite into orbit. The launch, conducted from Sriharikota, marks a critical milestone in India's homegrown satellite communication infrastructure. Modi hailed the achievement as a testament to the dedication and ingenuity of India's space scientists.
The mission underscores ISRO's growing mastery of the Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle platform, a program that has faced technical hurdles but has steadily matured over the past decade. NVS-03 is the latest addition to the Navigation with Indian Constellation (NavIC) system, designed to provide precise positioning, navigation, and timing services across the Indian subcontinent and beyond. The satellite replaces and augments the aging NavIC fleet, ensuring enhanced accuracy for civilian and military applications, from disaster management to civilian transportation and defense.
In his remarks, Modi emphasized the strategic importance of the feat, stating that the success reflects India's resolve to translate indigenous talent into global-scale capabilities. An official readout said the mission exemplifies the nation's scientific temper and self-reliance. ISRO Chairman V. Narayanan, who recently took the helm, credited the workforce's perseverance and the organization's rigorous testing protocols for the flawless execution.
Looking ahead, the successful deployment of NVS-03 paves the way for the full operationalization of the next-generation NavIC constellation, with subsequent satellites already in various stages of integration. ISRO has indicated that future GSLV missions will focus on supporting upcoming interplanetary projects, including the Venus Orbiter Mission and continued contributions to the Gaganyaan human spaceflight program. The achievement also reinforces India's competitive positioning in the commercial launch market, where ISRO's cost-effective payload delivery continues to attract international contracts.
