Cyclone Arnab Devastates Odisha and Andhra Pradesh: Over 55,000 Evacuated as Damages Top ₹4,600 Crore

Emergency responders have evacuated upwards of 55,000 residents across nine administrative districts in Odisha following the ferocious landfall of very severe cyclonic storm Arnab, disaster management agencies reported.
The tempest, which battered the eastern coastline with ferocious winds and torrential downpours, has severely compromised regional infrastructure, cutting off vital transit routes and disrupting power grids in one of India's most cyclone-prone corridors.
According to detailed field reports published by The Hindu, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu formally assessed the preliminary economic fallout, stating that the natural disaster has inflicted structural and agricultural damages scaling at least ₹4,600 crore.
As federal and state agencies transition from immediate life-saving rescue operations to damage mitigation, heavy machinery and engineering units are being deployed to clear debris, restore electricity, and prevent potential disease outbreaks in the flood-affected zones.
